The most interesting frames in any collection are never the safe ones. They are the ones that take a risk — that pair a familiar silhouette with an unexpected lens, that combine a classic colorway with a provocative tint, that force the wearer's eye to pause and recalibrate before it can fully process what it is seeing. The Emporio Armani EA4252U in 5017/93 is precisely this kind of frame — a deliberate, confident collision between the house's most sophisticated dark Havana and a lens tint that most designers would never dare place against it: blue.

Blue lenses in men's eyewear have historically lived in one of two territories — the aggressively sporty (mirrored performance frames for sailing and skiing) or the ironically retro (70s-inspired novelty frames that sacrifice seriousness for nostalgia). Emporio Armani has found a third path. The 93 blue lens in this frame is neither performance tech nor vintage pastiche — it is a cultivated blue, a blue with depth and intention, a blue that reads not as color but as atmosphere. When you look through these lenses, the world does not turn blue the way it does through cheap tinted plastic. Instead, it turns slightly cooler, slightly more composed, as if the ambient temperature of reality has dropped by two degrees — the visual equivalent of stepping from the white-hot parking lot of The Avenues into the marble-cool hush of a luxury boutique. The sky above the Arabian Gulf appears more vividly itself, the sea takes on an impossible sapphire depth, and the blinding white architecture that defines Kuwait City's skyline resolves into a crisp, photogenic clarity that grey and brown lenses simply cannot deliver.

Against the 5017 dark Havana, the blue lenses create a tension that is the EA4252U's defining achievement. The dark Havana is warmth incarnate — those near-black ribbons of chocolate and espresso weaving through the deep translucent base, the same sophisticated tortoiseshell that anchors so many Armani classics. And pressed against this organic warmth: cool blue. The effect is like ice in a glass of aged whisky — each element made more interesting by the other's presence, each temperature amplified by its opposite. The frame refuses to sit comfortably in a single tonal register, and this refusal is its power. It is a frame for the man who is equally at ease in the warm chaos of a Friday family gathering in Jabriya and the cool precision of a Monday strategy session at the Al-Sharq tower — and who refuses to compartmentalize these aspects of himself, choosing instead to hold both temperatures simultaneously in the lens color resting against his dark Havana frame. At size 57, the proportions are perfectly balanced — substantial enough to give the blue lenses the visual surface area they need to make their atmospheric statement, refined enough to prevent the color experiment from becoming a color spectacle.

Key Features

• Dark Havana Frame (5017 Colorway): Deep, near-black tortoiseshell with subtle dark chocolate and espresso veining — sophisticated organic warmth that creates a deliberate temperature contrast with the cool blue lenses
• 93 Blue Lenses: Cultivated blue-tinted lenses that introduce a cool atmospheric quality to the visual experience — neither sporty mirror nor retro novelty, but a refined, depth-rich blue that enhances sky and sea tones while reducing glare
• UV 400 Protection: Complete ultraviolet A and B radiation blockage — full-spectrum retinal defense that is especially critical with blue-tinted lenses, as the cool tint can mask UV intensity perception, making verified protection essential
• Size 57 Geometry: Medium proportional frame that provides the ideal lens surface area for the blue tint's atmospheric effect — large enough to create visual impact, refined enough to maintain compositional balance
• Injected Polyamide Construction ("U" Designation): Advanced lightweight polymer that ensures the frame's visually dynamic presence does not translate into physical weight — all-day comfort with a colorway that demands all-day wearing
• Warm-Cool Chromatic Tension: The deliberate pairing of warm dark Havana with cool blue lenses creates a visual dynamism that monochrome and single-temperature frames cannot achieve — the frame lives in two tonal worlds simultaneously
• Italian Design Heritage: Conceived in the Armani atelier and manufactured to the house's exacting standards — a frame that proves Armani can innovate within its essentialist philosophy without abandoning it
• Modern Silhouette: The EA4252U's geometry is subtly more contemporary than classic Armani rectangular profiles — a shape that reads as current without chasing trends, providing the right architectural context for the blue lens statement
• Discreet Eagle Branding: Subtle temple identification that lets the blue-on-Havana composition speak for itself — the frame's most powerful branding is its color story
• Prescription-Compatible: Frame architecture accommodates corrective lens fitting — the 93 blue tint is available in prescription form for vision-corrected wearers who want the atmospheric blue experience with optical precision

Why Customers Love It

• The Conversation Frame: The blue lenses against dark Havana create an irresistible visual question — people look, then look again, and often ask about the frame, making the EA4252U one of the most socially engaging sunglasses in the Armani men's collection
• Atmospheric Vision: The 93 blue tint provides a unique visual experience that grey and brown lenses cannot replicate — the world appears cooler and more composed, with enhanced sky and water tones that make outdoor time in Kuwait genuinely more visually pleasurable, particularly along the coastal roads
• Warm-Cool Versatility: The frame's dual-temperature personality means it pairs naturally with both warm-toned and cool-toned outfits — the dark Havana side with earth tones and cream, the blue lens side with navy, grey, and white — making it one of the most wardrobe-flexible frames in the collection
• Modern Without Trendy: The blue lens choice signals contemporary awareness without the aggressive flash of mirrored lenses or the costume energy of colored frames — it is a modernity achieved through sophistication rather than volume
• Photographic Quality: The blue tint creates a visual experience that feels inherently cinematic — wearers report that scenes viewed through the 93 lenses appear more composed, more vivid, more like a photograph than reality, making the frame a favorite for men who appreciate visual aesthetics
• Stands Out in the Armani Lineup: For men who already own the 87 grey-green classic and want a second Armani frame with a distinctly different personality, the EA4252U provides the most dramatic tonal departure while maintaining the same quality and proportions they trust

Best For

• Occasion: Coastal drives, outdoor dining with sea views, creative-industry meetings, weekend socializing, art gallery openings, resort settings, and any environment where the blue lens's atmospheric enhancement of sky and water becomes a genuine sensory asset rather than merely an aesthetic choice
• Season: Year-round with peak performance during Kuwait's clearest sky periods — the blue lenses are most transformative on days when the sky is vivid and the sea is visible, enhancing the natural beauty that Kuwait's coastline offers during spring and autumn; during summer, the cool tint provides welcome atmospheric relief from the heat
• Gender: Men
• Face Shape: Oval, oblong, and square faces — the size 57 contemporary geometry provides structured framing while the dual-temperature colorway draws attention to the eyes and upper face rather than the frame's shape alone
• Style/Personality: The Chromatic Contrarian — a man who makes deliberate choices that others wouldn't, not out of rebellion but out of refined taste, who finds the expected boring and the eccentric uncultured, who navigates the space between convention and invention with the confidence of someone who understands both territories
• Lifestyle: Creative professionals, architects, photographers, design entrepreneurs, coastal enthusiasts, and any man whose personal brand is built on distinctive choices rather than safe conformity
• Skin Tone: Universally flattering with particular brilliance against warm and golden complexions — the cool blue lenses create a striking temperature contrast against warm skin that is visually arresting, while the dark Havana bridge ensures the frame remains connected to the warmth of the wearer's complexion rather than floating free as a purely cool-toned object

How To Use

1. Dual-Temperature Fitting: Visit an optician for professional calibration — the size 57 must sit level so the dark Havana frame and blue lenses present a balanced composition; because the blue tint changes the perceived brightness of your environment, verify the fitting both indoors and outdoors to ensure comfort across the range of conditions where the atmospheric blue effect transitions from subtle to pronounced
2. Styling the Tension: Embrace the frame's warm-cool duality — pair with navy blazers and white shirts to extend the blue lens's cool register, or with cream and camel to complement the dark Havana's warmth; the most sophisticated approach is to wear both temperatures simultaneously, letting the frame serve as the chromatic bridge between warm and cool elements in your outfit
3. Two-Handed Handling: Always use both hands when putting on or removing the frame — the injected polyamide is lightweight and more flexible than acetate, making it more susceptible to gradual temple distortion from one-handed habits; the dark Havana shows misalignment more visibly than solid black, as the organic veining highlights any asymmetry
4. Blue Lens Care Priority: Rinse the 93 blue lenses with lukewarm water before any cloth contact — blue-tinted lenses show water spots, dust traces, and micro-scratches more visibly than grey or brown alternatives because the tint's uniformity makes any imperfection immediately detectable against the even blue field; use only clean microfiber cloths, never clothing or paper
5. Havana Surface Preservation: The 5017 dark Havana's translucent veining requires gentle care — avoid resting the frame face-down on any surface, as the organic pattern makes micro-scratches more visible than they would be against opaque black; store folded in a properly sized hard case with a soft, lint-free interior
6. Kuwait Heat Protocol: Never leave the EA4252U inside a parked vehicle — the polyamide resists warping better than acetate, but the blue lens coating is particularly vulnerable to thermal degradation at sustained temperatures above 65°C, which Kuwait's vehicle interiors routinely exceed; blue lens discoloration is irreversible and immediately visible against the tint's uniform tone
7. Chemical Vigilance: Keep the frame away from sunscreen, cologne, hair products, and chlorine — these chemicals are especially threatening to the blue lens coating's uniform tint application; any spot or streak of discoloration on a blue lens is far more visually apparent than the same damage on a grey or brown lens, making chemical avoidance doubly important
8. Annual Lens Inspection: Have your optician examine the 93 blue lenses annually for coating integrity — blue-tinted lenses show coating degradation more readily than neutral tints; early detection of micro-delamination or tint inconsistency allows for timely lens replacement before the visual quality that makes these lenses so special begins to deteriorate
